Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce seeking five veterans to represent Grand Strand in National Memorial Day Parade

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is sending five area veterans to participate in the 2017 National Memorial Day Parade May 29, 2017.

One veteran from each branch of service and their guest will be flown to Washington, D.C. to represent the Grand Strand in the nationally televised parade sponsored by the American Veterans Center. Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s mobile visitor center also will be in the nation’s capital for the parade.

Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is partnered with the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center who will select the veterans.

“We are so proud to partner with Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to select the five veterans,” said Kris Tourtellotte, founder of the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center. “This is a great opportunity to honor the men and women who proudly served our country.

Veterans can apply – or be nominated – by submitting the form online at MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com/veterans. Printed applications can be picked up and submitted at the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center located at 421 Hwy 57 South in Little River or at the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce located at 1200 N. Oak St. in Myrtle Beach.

“We are excited to promote our community to a national audience during the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our mobile welcome center will capture the attention in the parade and will be a traveling promotion throughout the D.C. region that weekend. Who better to represent our community in the parade than veterans who have served our nation with honor and distinction? We remain deeply indebted to our veterans for their service and appreciate the opportunity to partner with our local Veterans Resource Center on this unique promotion.”
