MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to S.C. Senate Vote to Support SC Infrastructure and Economic Reform Act, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
“We are encouraged by the South Carolina Senate’s veto-proof vote to improve our state’s infrastructure. For too long, our state has not invested wisely in maintenance, leaving us with unsafe roads and bridges desperately in need of repair. This has become an impediment to economic growth and costly to taxpayers.
While the Senate bill is far from perfect, it is a huge step in the right direction. We encourage the Senate and House leadership to work together to come to a reasonable solution that will resolve our infrastructure crisis and adequately fund future infrastructure needs. Safe, well-maintained roads and bridges support economic growth and enhance overall quality of life for all South Carolinians.”
