Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Tribute Scheduled for Monday, May 30
Free Event Honors Veterans, Active Duty Military and Members of the U.S. Armed Forces Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Veterans of the American Armed Forces and active-duty military are invited to be the guests of honor at the sixth annual Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Tribute, which is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, May 30 in Grand 14 Cinemas at Market Common in Myrtle Beach.
The event is sponsored by the City of Myrtle Beach, the CresCom Bank Center for Military & Veterans Studies at Coastal Carolina University, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Goldfinch Funeral Home and Grand 14 Cinemas. The event, which is free to the public, will include public recognition of veterans and active duty military, a performance of patriotic music, a color guard presentation and screening of the documentary film Patriot Dream: The Story of the Pilgrims.
The documentary chronicles the dramatic history of the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony, whose arrival in America in 1620 shaped the founding of the nation. Shot on location in the Pilgrim country of Great Britain and in the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts, it traces the extraordinary story of the Pilgrims from their troubles in 17th century England through their escape to Holland and their dramatic voyage to America.
“This a very special and meaningful way for all of us to express our gratitude to veterans and active duty military,” said Brad Dean, the president of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “We hope that visitors to Myrtle Beach as well as local residents will attend the free Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Tribute. It’s a family event and a great opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made on our behalf by Americans in uniform.”
Admission to the Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Tribute and the presentation of Patriot Dream is free, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Complimentary refreshments will be served courtesy of Grand 14 Cinemas.
