MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –Tommy Bouchette, President for BNC Bank and Executive Vice President for Bank of North Carolina, has been elected the next chairman of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Bouchette will succeed Richard Singleton as chairman of the board beginning Jan. 1, 2013.
“I am truly honored to serve as chairman with the quality team of people that make up the MBACC’s current board of directors and past board members, who over the years have played such a vital role in the success of our community,” Bouchette said, “I am also proud to be associated with the one of the most successful chambers in the nation led by Brad Dean and his team of talented chamber professionals.”
Bouchette was born in Andrews, S.C., and has been active in the banking and business community of Horry and Georgetown counties for over 25 years. He served as CEO and co-founder of SunBank in Murrells Inlet that merged into South Carolina Bank and Trust in 2005 before joining BNC Bank as President in May 2010.

He is active in community service; has served on numerous nonprofit boards both in Horry and Georgetown Counties; and is a graduate Leadership Georgetown, Leadership Grand Strand and Leadership Sumter.
“As chairman, my primary focus will be to leverage the talent and resources of the Board of Directors to assist the Chamber CEO and his team in promoting economic development and providing an environment that fosters the growth of all businesses—both small and large,” Bouchette said, “Our board will work diligently to provide the oversight and guidance for the Chamber’s management team to promote the Grand Strand as a world-class vacation destination to out-of-market visitors, increasing tourism to our area and stimulating further economic progress.”
Bouchette currently serves on the Board of the South Carolina Bankers Association and Horry Georgetown Technical College Foundation Board. Current chairman Richard Singleton says he’s confident in Bouchette’s experience and is looking forward to his tenure.
“I’m happy for Tommy and excited about him serving the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Grand Strand community as chairman of this board,” Singleton said. “His natural leadership abilities and vast business experience will prove to be a great asset for the chamber, and I know I speak for the entire board when I say how excited we are to have him elected to this position.”
