PIER HOUSE RESTAURANT OPEN AGAIN TO THE PUBLIC FOLLOWING RENOVATIONS
2nd Ave. Pier House offers an open-air bar, a fun fishing experience and so much more
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Pier House Restaurant, a member of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, reopened March 4 for the 2011 tourist season. Pier House and its open-air, rooftop bar, Pier View, first opened on July 3, 2010 during the height of the tourist season after major reconstruction at 2nd Avenue Pier.
Located on the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk at 2nd Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard, the pier continues to serve both tourists and locals in the downtown area, offering much more than a fun fishing experience after undergoing several recent renovations.
2nd Ave. Pier was established in 1936 and has been a Grand Strand landmark for 75 years. The Lucas/Collins family has owned the pier since the mid-sixties, and after the City Council's decision to advance the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk construction, the decision to make a major change was finalized. The reconstruction of the pier was completed in record time considering the several major obstacles encountered.
"It was a wild ride, but well worth it. We are ready for the 2011 season, which is off to a great start," said Teak Collins, co-owner of the 2nd Ave. Pier.
Pier House's menu features a wide variety of fresh seafood, salads, steaks, and sandwiches. The restaurant is surrounded by large, wraparound windows offering a casual dining atmosphere for guests, and the grouper, reuben, shrimp stack, shrimp and grits, and homemade soups are some of the local favorites.
As the Pier House was unable to hold a Grand Opening in 2010, the restaurant is extending a dinner special throughout the end of March. The two for $25 menu offers a choice of one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert.
