A big chill will settle in at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach next year, but not in the traditional sense of the word. Don’t think snow, ice or frost. Think of “chill" as in “be cool, be calm, relax. Eat, drink and be mellow." Big Chill Island House will open in April, a partnership between La Vida Hospitality of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and Myrtle Beach based through Burroughs and Chapin. The 10,000-square-foot, two-story restaurant is under construction by BEC Construction of Murrells Inlet. The motif will be nautical; the lunch and dinner menu “seafood-heavy and island-inspired,” according to Josh Grapski, La Vida’s managing partner for marketing and development. Of course, burgers and other American staples will also be offered. Guests will be served by a staff of 60 to 75 that will swell to 125 in the summer vacation season. Both indoor dining, with high-season seating for 325, and outdoor dining under a Live Oak tree in the backyard, will be offered. There will be a small stage outside for live entertainment, and a roof-top terrace where guests can toast the sunset over the Intracoastal Waterway.
