Day1Week1 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health by providing immediate, compassionate, and judgment-free support during the most critical time—the first day and first week when someone asks for help. Our mission is especially focused on supporting first responders and veterans in high-stress environments who often suffer in silence due to cultural pressure, trauma, or a lack of access to trusted resources. Our work is deeply embedded in the fabric of the local community. We are building strong relationships with police departments, fire stations, veteran organizations, and hospitals to become a first call when someone is struggling. We are not an insurance company, nor do we wait for paperwork—we respond with action, empathy, and resources. We offer: Peer support from others who’ve walked similar paths, emergency aid to stabilize individuals during mental health crises, direct connections to vetted therapists, counselors, and recovery programs, practical help with housing, food, or transportation during the healing process. The need for proactive mental health support in our community is urgent. First responders face daily trauma but are often discouraged from seeking help due to fear of judgment or career consequences. Veterans carry emotional wounds from service that can lead to isolation, addiction, and even suicide without proper support. Local residents in crisis are frequently lost in the system or denied care because they don’t meet traditional criteria or can't afford services. Day1Week1 steps in when others can’t—or won’t. Our support has prevented suicides and breakdowns through timely intervention, reunited families by helping individuals heal from trauma, built a trusted culture of openness, where seeking help is seen as strength, not weakness by walking alongside individuals from the first moment they reach out. Day1Week1 is helping to build a safer, more resilient, and mentally healthy community—starting with those who’ve served us all.
