MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to the decision by the district court in Sherman, Texas, to grant a preliminary injunction blocking the Department of Labor's new overtime regulation nationwide, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"We are encouraged and relieved by the Federal Court's decision to halt implementation of the new FLSA regulations, which we believed were an unnecessary intrusion into the labor markets. These regulations, pushed through by the current administration, would actually cost employers, stifle job creation and ultimately hurt the very employees they were intended to help. We are hopeful the next Congress will seize this opportunity to work with President-Elect Trump to repeal this regulatory mistake, as well as other anti-business regulations approved by the Obama Administration."
