MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to the recent misrepresentation of the Myrtle Beach water quality, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
“Though misleading information about beach water quality have recently caused concern among our business owners, occupancy rates and ADR show that visitor flow has not been dampened. While some businesses are seeing a lighter than anticipated summer, several are reporting solid foot traffic, suggesting this may be a summer of winners and losers. The only real losers, however, are the visitors who may have missed out on an extraordinary family vacation thanks to a campaign of misinformation.”
