MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to today’s announcement from the South Carolina Ports Authority regarding plans for a second inland port facility, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"We applaud today’s announcement from the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) regarding plans for a second inland port facility. Once complete, this project could ultimately provide significant economic benefits to the Myrtle Beach area through the creation of additional jobs, at higher wages. In addition to the economic development opportunities, a second inland port would expand many transportation options throughout the state and would be a perfect complement to I-73 when it’s completed.
The chamber remains committed to its support of economic sustainability, vitality, and development for the entire Myrtle Beach area, and looks forward to the successful completion of SCPA’s second inland port project.”
