The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a component of the Department of Homeland Security, administers E-Verify in collaboration with the Social Security Administration. As a public service, USCIS offers free training and seminars about E-Verify. E-Verify is a free, Internet-based system that allows an employer, using information from an employee's Form I-9, to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States.
On February 28, 2012 at 9:00 am, an E-Verify Overview will be conducted to increase understanding of E-Verify and also address any misconceptions about the Program. This E-Verify Overview is designed to educate, update and provide compliance support to U.S. businesses including 8a, minority owned, HUB Zone, and veteran-owned employers.
Below is a summary of the one hour seminar:
- Details of E-Verify
- Employer and employee responsibilities
- How the E-Verify Program works
- What employees can do when faced with a data mismatch
- Important information regarding the protection of employee rights
- A question and answer session with an E-Verify subject matter expert
Session is free to attend.
