Delicious food! My favorite is the chicken salad cold plate :). Everything we have tried has been really good and very generous portions!

Had an early dinner today with my Bride. Service was excellent, as usual. Thank you Jeff.
Tried the fish and Chips tonight, and could not finish them. Sooooo good. Crunchy, piping hot Cod, breaded well and served with slaw and fries. My new favorite basket at Dagwood's, well at least until I'm back to try the other specialties on the menu.
This is a favorite for Joy and I. They are consistently Good, and a step or two above the competition.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 2, 2018Previous reviewSecond time in a row that the food and service were top notch.
We got there early and had the Happy Hour Wings for $7.50 and anxious to try some of their other sandwiches.
Our server, Jessica, brought us our drinks and we ordered the wings as an appetizer. She offered to make 5 hot and 5 mild so Joy could have some. The wings were the best we have found down here and I am a very fussy wing eater. They had just the right amount of heat and were sauced well. I went through four big napkins.
My date had the Chicken Caesar Wrap with their incredible fries and she loved it. They make it and then crisp it on the outside and it has a slight crunch. A nice difference.
I had the traditional Reuben and it was excellent and loaded with fresh corned beef, kraut, cheese and good Russian. It was almost more than I could finish with the fries and wings, but I managed.
Before we left, Maribeth, South Carolina's Hospitality Employee of the Year, walked by and we had our picture taken with a True Celebrity. She is one of the nicest people we have met here in the food industry and truly cares about the staff, customers and food quality. She brings a lot of value to Dagwood's with her sparkling personality.
We love this place and will eventually eat our way through the entire menu.
Another perfect Date Night. Thank you Jessica and thank you Maribeth. You all are the Best!Jan 19, 2018Previous reviewWe finally made up our minds to try a local favorite, up in Surfside Beach, Dagwood's. We have been looking for a great Chicken Cheese steak and Philly Cheese Steak since Uncle Mikey's closed in the Inlet, and we struck gold.
We arrived just after five and the place was packed. They have a huge bar with big screen TVs everywhere, even in the booths. Nice touch and a great feel for a local place. We were greeted with a smile and immediately taken to a table where we had a great view of the entire place. The atmosphere is very friendly and the service was excellent. Debbie, our server came with menus before we even had a chance to pull in our chairs. Impressive, especially when the place was almost at capacity. She took our order for two large waters, a Philly Cheese Steak and a Chicken Cheese Steak with lettuce and tomato. Both came with fried onions, peppers and mushrooms (we asked to hold the mushrooms). We both opted for their home made potato salad for a side.
The food was there in less than 10 minutes, piping hot and just the aroma told you that this was a good move. The rolls are baked daily and are soft and truly Italian. The Chicken was piled in the roll with the veggies on top and the Rib eye was nicely chopped and loaded with cheese. Both sandwiches were excellent and we split ours so we could try both. Joy liked the beef and I loved the chicken. The potato salad was a nice addition and very tasty. Throw in a pickle and you're remembering the best places in Jersey.
Despite the crowd it was not noisy and the bar and dining room seemed to compliment each other. I love the TV's and from Barrett Jackson, to golf to Ice Hockey and even NFL, they covered all the bases.
When you find great service, great food and value, you'll come back. I can see us having a few of the other menu items in the coming months and look forward to their fish and chips and Reuben sandwich.
If you're in Surfside Beach and hungry, look for Dagwoods. The parking lot may look full, but come on in and grab a seat. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks Mike, from Lancaster, SC, for telling us about Dagwoods. You were right, it's local, friendly and has great food. - Mar 10, 2024
Was looking for a lunch that could satisfy several ladies and found Dagwood's. Big menu with lots of choices and everything was really good.
We were warmly greeted when we walked in and our server was fantastic in answering our questions and making solid recommendations.
We started with the Southwest Eggrolls and Nachos and both were very good.
The sandwich's are clearly the star of the menu. Everything came out hot and fresh and every bite was yummy. I had the French dip with mushrooms and it was delicious. Mom had the shrimp Philly which was perfect for the beach. My cousins split the Philly and my aunt had the Turkey club. Everyone left full and happy and everything was fresh and very good. I recommend their house made chips but the sweet potato fries were excellent too.
We were constantly asked how we were doing and if we liked what we had ordered (servers, the manager, etc).
It's definitely a sports bar, so don't expect fancy, but if you want good, freshly prepared appetizers and sandwich's this is the place to go!
It also has an outside patio which is great for a sunny day at the beach. It did get busy fast and has the sports bar vibe but I would go there to watch my favorite game or just have a good sandwich.
Dagwood would be proud of their sandwich making ability.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 11, 2024
Dogwood's never fails to disappoint! I was hesitant to go here because I wasn't in the kids for a sandwich. What I forgot was that they are not just sandwiches, they are works of art on a bun!! I love when the servers will give their opinions when asked. Our's KNOCKED it put of the park with the Philly cheesesteak suggestion!! I subbed banana peppers for the mushrooms and it was incredible. All the enclosed porch makes the dining experience so much nicer because the wait is so much less than before. It is quiet and warmer than inside of the restaurant. I can't believe the size of hubby's Brook's Brother Sandwich. He didn't say a word during dinner so that's a great sign. We will be back on our next trip back!!

Great food at very affordable prices. Has a locals feel about the places, the staff is very friendly and attentive. The beer is always cold and they have some great happy hour and late night specials.

We have stopped at Dagwood's in Surfside a couple times on our trips over the years and have never been able to get a table and eat because it's always so packed during the regular season, which must mean it's good (and it is!). We stopped in on a Tuesday evening in April and were finally able to try it! We still had about a 30 minute wait for 3 of us, but were able to snag a few seats at the bar. I would agree with other reviews, though, that the food is well worth the wait.
The bartenders were super friendly, fun, and welcoming. It was trivia night which made the experience even more lively and fun. The place itself is fairly large with a long bar and lots of seating, and a ton of TVs. The menu is HUGE with many options for everyone, featuring delicious and unique appetizers, sandwiches/subs, and entrees.
We ordered the Southwest Chicken Eggrolls, Smokin Joe's fries, Italian with potato salad, and The Dagwood's Dipper with pasta salad. All were delicious! The sandwiches were extremely fresh and so tasty. The potato salad was amazing. Great prices, too! Drinks were also a great price and good pours on the wine. You've got to check out Dagwood's!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - S P.Portsmouth, VA1843101Sep 22, 2023
I was recommended to come here by a local and I must say they were spot with their recommendation. They said a 15min wait but we were seated more like in 5. The waitress took us to our table and immediately took our drink order. Which was brought out super quick.
I ordered the snake bite as my beverage and as soon as the beverages came out our order was taken since thankfully every in our party of 6 was ready. I ordered the Prime Rib grilled cheese as my food. Someone ordered fish n chips. And other food was ordered but all of us were pleasantly surprised by how quick the food came out. It was the basic sports bar ambiane with some semi interesting decor. Overall all I give this place a 5 out of 5.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Debbie S.State Road, NC1285Jan 25, 2024
Live this place! The sandwiches are so good!!
Cool looking inside. Always busy! This will be a go to place. Just need to get there early enough for lunch because you will have wait in line although it moves pretty fast.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas M.Raleigh, NC02Mar 25, 2024
