FAQ

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Will whitening cause sensitivity?

Yes, it is possible to have mild sensitivity after we a professional teeth whitening service but that should only last a few days.

How does teeth whitening work?

Teeth whitening is a simple process. Whitening products contain one of two bleaches (hydrogen, peroxide or carbamide peroxide). These ingredients breaks stains into smaller pieces, which makes the color less concentrated and your smile brighter!

How long will my teeth remain white?

No teeth whitening process is permanent and how long your results last varies on the individual. Typically the results can last from anywhere from six months to two years depending on diet and habits.

Are the bleaches used on my teeth toxic?

No, both hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide are not toxic.

What happens after my session is completed?

A mineralizing gel will be applied to your teeth to help close the pores and strengthen the enamel. Directions for home care will be given at the end of your appointment

Can I whiten while pregnant?

No, we recommend waiting until after birth to whiten!

Will my crowns or veneers whiten?

No, unfortunately the shade of crowns can not be changed. However we could whiten the teeth around them to help with a more even smile.

Can I whiten more than once per year?

Yes! Touchups are recommended every 6 months (depending on your diet) to maintain your brightest smile!
