| The Jewish community in Georgetown, SC was established before the American Revolution. Temple Beth Elohim, incorporated in 1904, has inherited a commitment to our Jewish heritage and traditions. We oversee a cemetery for our members which dates back to the Revolutionary War. Many of our members' families have been here for generations; some moved here from around the country, others are "snowbirds: who spend quality time with us for part of the year. We celebrate Mitzvahs together and rely on one another when we share grief.
Temple Beth Elohim is an inclusive Reform Jewish Community. Our temple family is a diverse multigenerational congregation who welcome all Jews, their partners and families, regardless of age, race, physical condition and sexual orientation. We strive to provide our members with a meaningful relationship with Torah, Israel, our community and with Jewish values. We abide by principles of justice, charity, healing the world and kindness to others. Currently, Lay Leaders conduct Shabbat services, holiday and Jewish rituals with continuity and vitality. Recent growth in our area has contributed to our congregation's desire to gain knowledge, expertise and professional Jewish leadership, as well as membership in Jewish organizations which will help us achieve these goals.

Many local churches have been given assistance with building construction, capital improvements and their community programs.
Mr. Chapin was a visionary in planning for the future of a vibrant life in Myrtle Beach. His passion for serving all the citizens in Myrtle Beach is evident in the areas of focus he provided for including, YMCA, literary enrichment, health and wellness and charitable work. This work began modestly, but has blossomed to enrich the lives of untold citizens and visitors enjoying this beautiful location.

| Ocean View is comprised of people who are on a journey-a journey through life with Jesus Christ. On the surface, each journey looks different, for we come from all kinds of geographic backgrounds, faith experiences, and support systems, but we have this fundamental fact in common, we are all in need of an authentic relationship with God through Jesus Christ in which we learn to love and be loved. | See Also Organizations/Clubs | |
